Sempur

The neighborhood's namesake.  Apparently Sempur means "lap," as in around the track.  Sunday mornings the field fills up with a flea market where goods are cheap and people come in droves.

Though mostly a worker's village the neighborhood boasts some stately homes.  These guys got it right with the deep balcony.

My daily commute to work takes me up this steep flight of steps.  I rather like it.

This little suspension bridge near my home leads to the opposite side of the ravine.  At the top is a fine market where many desirable goods familiar to the westerner may be purchased.

A rare sight in Bogor due to the omnipresent jungle canopy and frequent overcast skies.

Domestic Life

I've been asked to tell about my newish home.  I moved in a little over a month ago but it's still not completely furnished.
It's like a jungle around here.  I like the neighborhood

It's always raining in Bogor

The gutter is broken.  Water spews all over one of my spacious patios whenever it rains.

The other patio, separated by a pointless wall.

The view as you step in my front door.  One can see the master bedroom through the door straight ahead and off to the right is the kitchen and bathroom.

My humble sleeping quarters.

...from the other corner of the room.

The living room as seen from opposite the front door.  I'm still awaiting a dinner table to be placed to the left.  The doorway to the spare room lies left of the front door.

The spare room.  Hoping I can get a roommate and spread out my living expenses.

This room lies between the living room and the kitchen.  I anticipate getting a breakfast table to round the space out.  Adjacently to the left is a bizarre room being used as a closet.

The closet.

My kitchen is narrow and awkward.  I had the cabinets installed on the wall and risers built to mitigate the excruciatingly short counter tops.

You might think it's a bath tub but the people around here fill it to the brim and scoop water out to shower with.  I just had a proper shower installed instead but I don't know what to do with this inane construct.
