Alexy assails me with tales of precognitive dreams. Last night forewarns of troubles on the road today. He's in a ferry with friends when a tsunami looms, instilling fear. He's not confident with his swimming ability, however when the ship capsizes he finds his skills ample. I remain unmoved.
Six hours drive to the harbor. Sumbawa maintains overcast skies and standard Indonesian beauty. Rice patties glow verdantly against leaden firmament. By noon the rain begins to fall and continues with variable intensity for the day's remainder.
Near the harbor the road is washed out. We make it through one puddle but Lexy is concerned. There are damp spots forming on the car's floor. This does not bode well. He fears the next flooded portion could pose a serious threat to his engine. Wait for current conditions to subside.
Many cars file past us in both directions. Behind us the section we traversed has widened. One truck has already taken a spill. I'm watching a string of cars move through our next obstacle. This can't be so bad. I decide to wade through, test the severity. Nary past me ankles though certainly a noticeable current. I wave Lexy through.
Aboard the ferry my companion notes the eerie accuracy of last night's reverie. Curious. I'll make a point of asking after his dreams tomorrow.
